Before You Change Your Parenting, Understand Your Blueprint.
Long before you became a parent, your childhood home was quietly shaping the parent you would become.

"Why did I do that?"
Maybe you reacted in a way that surprised you. Maybe you heard your own parent's voice come out of your mouth. Maybe you walked away thinking, "I swore I was never going to do that"
The truth is, we all carry a parenting blueprint.
Without realizing it, we copy pieces of the home that shaped us and paste them into the home we're creating.

I'm a Mom Just Like You.
I love my kids more than anything, and there was also a season in my life when I felt trapped in my own home with them.
It wasn't because I didn't love my family or wasn't grateful for everything we had. It was because I couldn't understand why I kept reacting in ways that didn't reflect the kind of mom I had always imagined I would be. I have a background in therapy and child development. I'd studied the theories, read the parenting books, and understood the strategies. Yet in the hardest parenting moments, I still found myself asking, "Why did I do that? Why did I respond that way?"
I wasn't looking for another parenting strategy because I felt like I had already tried them all. I needed to understand myself and my new identity as a mother.
Everything shifted when I realized I had spent so much energy trying to change what was happening around me, when the greatest opportunity for change was actually within me. My children's behavior wasn't the problem to solve. It was often revealing places in me that still needed healing, understanding, and intention.
That's when I stopped looking at my childhood as one overwhelming story and began looking at it as a home. As I mentally walked through each room, memories connected to beliefs, beliefs connected to patterns, and I realized my reactions weren't random. They had been learned over years of experiences until they became automatic.
Understanding my childhood was no longer about shame or blame. It was about finally understanding myself. And when I understood myself, I could begin intentionally becoming the mother I had always wanted to be.
With that understanding came something I hadn't felt in a long time: hope and relief. Not because I became a perfect parent overnight, but because I finally had a way to move forward.
That's how Copy-Paste Parenting was born. I never set out to create a parenting framework. I was simply searching for a better way to understand myself, and what I discovered became something I couldn't keep to myself because I knew I wasn't the only parent asking these same questions.
Today, my hope is that this framework gives you that same clarity. Because when we understand the home that shaped us, we can intentionally choose what gets copied, what gets changed, and the legacy we want to leave behind.
You don't have to build a perfect home. You simply have to build it on purpose.

I'm a Mom Just Like You.
I know what it's like to love your children deeply and still find yourself wondering,
"Why did I react that way?"
I loved my children. I wanted to respond differently. Yet there were moments when my reactions felt automatic, and I couldn't fully understand why.
As a mom, I went looking for answers. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I realized I wasn't the only one asking that question. For more than a decade, I've walked alongside individuals, couples, and families, and I kept hearing the same question over and over again.
Everything changed when I stopped looking at my childhood as one story and started looking at it as a home.
As I walked through each room, I began connecting memories to beliefs and beliefs to the patterns I was still living out as a parent. That's where Copy-Paste Parenting was born. Not because I set out to create a parenting framework, but because I was searching for a better way to understand myself.
Today, my hope is that this framework helps you stop asking, "What's wrong with me?" and start asking, "What shaped me?" Because when we understand the home that shaped us, we can intentionally choose what gets copied, what gets changed, and the legacy we want to leave behind.
